In 2008, a team from the UK worked with members of the communities in Barmoi Munu and Masselleh to create Call di Life Saver!, a film to be shown to people living in the catchment areas of The Kambia Appeal’s motorbike ambulance project.
The film comprises three short dramas that illustrate when and why people might need to use the ambulances in various emergency situations: a young mother approaching labour, a mother with a sick child; and a man falling from a palm tree. As a companion film to Belleh Woman Go de Right Side!, Call di Life Safer! also has the same central comic character, Mr Advice, played by local comedian Israel Davids.
The film has been toured around the project catchment area and screened in each village to capacity audiences. The film has now been seen by over 17,000 people.
