How your money helps

Your support will enable The Kambia Appeal to continue saving and transforming lives in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world.

You can donate to The Kambia Appeal by giving either a single gift or a regular gift. Setting up a regular gift with direct debit is the most efficient and cost effective way to support The Kambia Appeal and enables us to plan for the future with greater confidence.

What your money can provide

£12 is enough to run a motorbike ambulance for a week, providing a vital transport link in emergencies between remote rural villages and a health centre.

£30 provides food and lodging at a maternity waiting hostel for 4 weeks for an at-risk mother before she receives obstetric care at the Kambia Hospital. Being close to the hospital in the weeks prior to having her baby increases the chance of a successful outcome, saving her life and the life of her child.

£60 buys a bicycle for a health worker to use for outreach work, providing health care to remote rural communities.

£90 provides an emergency caesarean section operation at the Kambia Hospital to save the life of a mother.

£650 buys a return flight to Freetown and an entry visa for one medic from the UK to work at the Kambia Hospital.

£1,500 provides a scholarship for one year for a student from Kambia to study for the Community Health Officer qualification in Sierra Leone.
